IFA President Francie Gorman

IFA president set to attend Cavan AGM

Cavan Irish Farmers Association (IFA) AGM will take place on Monday night next, January 20 in the Lavey Inn at 8pm. The Association’s national president, Francie Gorman will be in attendance.

Up for discussion will be the Nitrates Derogation and the Mercosur Trade Deal while the President is expected to address the latest government formation talks and the issues around the outbreak of TB.

Chairman, Cavan IFA Maurice Brady says a “wide range of issues” will be addressed on the night. He also pointed to the local situation and indicated that while costs in the industry are still high, the current outlook is “not too bad”.

“TB is causing problems and there are still issues around delays in the ACREs payments which has become a bit of a nightmare for a lot of farmers,” he continued.

“As we know, commodity prices are well up and things in that direction are going okay. Costs are still high as we know but beef, dairy and lamb are all going in the right direction.”

Everyone is invited to come along and join in those all important farming and rural life discussions.
