Met Éireann issues high temperature warning
Weather update from Met Éireann
A status yellow high temperature warning will take effect at noon today for 14 counties including Cavan and Monaghan.
Met Éireann is predicting maximum temperatures in excess of 27°C with night-time minima in excess of 15°C expected.
It could cause forest fires, heat stress and uncomfortable sleeping conditions. People are also being urged to be careful near beaches and lakes and be mindful of water safety.
From noon tomorrow (Saturday) a status yellow high temperature warning will kick in for the entire country until 6am on Sunday. Temperatures could hit 30 degrees on Saturday.
Meanwhile, there will be fog in some southern and eastern areas this morning, clearing from most parts but possibly lingering on the south coast. Otherwise it will be dry, sunny and very warm with temperatures reaching 25 to 29 degrees.
Tonight will be dry with long clear spells and light winds. Very mild or warm with temperatures not falling below 13 to 17 degrees.
Tomorrow will be very warm or hot with temperatures reaching 26 to 30 degrees. It will be dry and sunny with light to moderate southeasterly winds.
Mild and mostly dry during the evening on Saturday with a little more cloud pushing in across western parts. Southerly breezes and rather mild overnight with lowest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees.
Sunday will start out largely fine and dry with good sunny spells and mostly light winds. More cloud will build from the west with outbreaks of rain pushing in across Atlantic coastal counties. A very warm day with highest temperatures of 22 to 28 degrees and southerly breezes.
Becoming rather cloudy overnight on Sunday with freshening southerly breezes. Outbreaks of rain will push in from the southwest and may be heavy and blustery at times too. Quite mild overnight with lowest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees.
Monday is expected cloudy and unsettled with a band of rain moving over the country during the morning. A clearance to sunny spells and scattered showers. Southeasterly breezes will change southwesterly later in the day with highest temperatures a bit cooler than recently at 18 to 22 degrees.
Another unsettled and cooler day on Tuesday with a good mix of scattered showers, blustery winds and some sunny spells too. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees.
