It is with regret that we note the following deaths over the past few days from counties Cavan and Monaghan, as reported on RIP.ie

Shannon Watson, Church View, Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan, Saturday, July 26, suddenly but peacefully in her sleep, to the inexplicable grief of her mother Martina, dad Alex and his wife Janice, brothers Dwyane (Shauna O'Reilly) and Aaron (Caoimhe) her partner Eoin Mahon, and nephew Noah.

May She Rest in Peace.

Josephine Gilcreest (nee Smith), Enfield, London, U.K. and late of St Phelim's Place, Cavan Town. Josephine died peacefully in hospital in London on July 1st 2025.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Kevin, her parents Joseph and Margaret, her recently deceased brother Sean and her sisters Mary, Margaret and Cora.

Deeply regretted by her sons Oliver (Ayten) and Hugo (Sarah), her adored grandchildren Ayden, Brendan, Finlay and Olivia, her brother Terry Smith (Keadue Lane, Cavan), sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, all her extended family and many friends in London and Cavan. May she rest in peace.

Funeral Mass on Monday July 28th in the Cathedral of S.s Patrick and Felim, Cavan at 11.30 am and this will be followed by a burial in Cullies Cemetery with her beloved husband, Kevin. Josephine's Funeral Mass can be viewed live on the parish webcam at www.cavntownparish.com/webcam.

Colm Martin Trainor, Tallaght, Dublin / Bailieborough, Cavan. July 22, 2025, (unexpectedly), after a long illness, at Tallaght University Hospital.

Beloved husband of Pauline and dear father of Daniel, Fiona, Philip and Hannah, Sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mother-in-law Anna Lee, son-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, colleagues and clients at Salon Express, neighbours and friends.

Reposing on Sunday from 3pm to 5pm at the Ramon Massey & Son Funeral Home, 3 Main Street, Tallaght Village, D24 NY65, (opposite The Priory).

Removal on Monday to St. Aengus’s Church, Tymon North arriving for 10am Mass. Funeral immediately afterwards to Newlands Cross Crematorium.

Dr. Desmond MacManus of Grove House, Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim and formerly of Gartylough, Arva, Co Cavan on Thursday, July 24.

Peacefully at North West Hospice surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his wife Philomena. Desmond will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his children Liz, John, Maeve and Dervla, daughter-in-law Maria, sons-in-law Fred, Conor and Denis, brother-in-law Fergus, sisters-in-law, adoring grandchildren Cathal Óg, Aisling, Eoin, Garrett, Eabha, Ríona, Gavin, Desmond, Aoife, Conall, Tom and Maebh, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and large circle of friends.

Reposing at Our Lady's Hospital Chapel, Manorhamilton on Sunday evening from 5pm to 8pm.

Removal from his family home on Monday for Funeral Mass at 12 noon in St Clare's Church, Manorhamilton followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Niall Brady, Harlaxton & Denton, Lincolnshire, England and Killadream, Loughduff, Co. Cavan. Wednesday, July 23, peacefully after an illness borne with dignity and courage. Recently predeceased by his father Charlie.

Deeply regretted and dearly missed by his beloved children, Ciarán, Ailish and Danny, their mother Lisa, and Ciarán’s fiancée Jo, his mother Detta, his siblings Ann Marie (TP), Fionnuala (Francie), Cathal (Emer), Colm (Róisín) and Shane (Vanda), his nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, his former colleagues in the Kelly Group and his many friends.

Teresa Murphy (née Greenan), “Muirnín”, Strandhill Road, Sligo and formerly of Monaghan, July 24, 2025 peacefully, at Sligo University Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Frank, her parents Philip and Mary Alice, siblings Paurie, Seamie, Nora, Frank and Maree. She will be greatly missed and remembered with love by her children Philip, Catherine, Michael and Anne Marie, daughters-in-law Olivia and Eithne, son-in-law Philip, grandsons Owen, Neil and Paul, Owen’s wife Natalie, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Reposing at Nazareth Chapel, Church Hill, Sligo (F91DD72) on Sunday, July 27 from 5:30pm until 7:30pm. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Monday, July 28 at 11:30am and will be livestreamed via www.sligocathedral.ie.

Burial follows in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Scarden, Strandhill Road, Sligo.

Anna Killen (née Sherry), 5 Mullinamoy Far and formerly of Fermanagh St, Clones, passed away peacefully at home in the care of her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband Alphonsus, her parents, Edward and Bridget Sherry, Corvaghan, Clones, her sister Madeline and her brothers Kevin (Maura), Laurence (Carmel) and Peter.

Cherished and much loved mother of Beatrice, Micheal (Geraldine), Noeleen (Declan), Madeline (Sean), Dorothy (John), Patricia (Barry), Ali (Anne), John Paul (Colette), and Brenda (Mark), grandchildren Laura, Aisling, Declan Jnr., Ciaran, Colleen, John Finbar, Liam, Doireann, Sean Seamus, Emma Jane, Aileen, Niamh, Aoibhin, Roisin, Anna, Patrick and Niall, and her great grandchildren Muireann, Meidhbin and Oisín, nieces, nephews, neighbours many friends and by all who knew and loved Anna.

Anna will be resting at the family home, 5 Mullinamoy Far, H23KX86, Sunday from 4pm to 8pm and again Monday from 4pm to 8pm.

Anna's funeral cortège will travel from the family home at approximately 10:15am (via Mullinamoy Lane, Cara Street, The Diamond and walking from Fermanagh Street) to arrive at the Sacred Heart Church Clones for 11a.m Funeral Mass on Tuesday morning. Burial afterwards in Mount St. Oliver's Cemetery.

Malachy Connor, formerly of Drumganus Lower, Broomfield, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, and most recently of Castleross Retirement Village.

Malachy passed away peacefully in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, on Saturday 26th July.

Malachy, predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Mary Connor, sister Kathleen Kettle and brother John Connor, sister-in-law Ann Connor; brother-in-law, Michael Kettle and ,niece, Margaret; and nephews, Paddy and Patrick.

He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Kathleen May Mc Mahon, uncle and granduncle to his nieces and nephews in Corby, Glasgow, and Manchester, his cousins, neighbours, and many friends.

Malachy will repose at Ward's Funeral Home, Castleblayney, on Tuesday from 4pm to 7pm, and again on Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm.

Malachy's funeral cortège will leave Ward's Funeral Home, Castleblayney, on Thursday morning to arrive at St. Patrick’s Church, Broomfield, for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

John Cawley, 12 Mullaghmatt, Monaghan Town, Monaghan, H18FT02 on Wednesday, July 23 peacefully at Cavan General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his wife Teresa and son Niall.

John, deeply regretted and remembered with love by his heart broken family, sons and daughters John, Declan, Gary, Tracy, Margaret, Christine, Bernard, Darren, Gregory and their partners, Brothers and Sisters, his cherished grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

John will repose at his home in Mullaghmatt today from 4pm until 9pm.

John’s funeral cortège will travel from his home, 12 Mullaghmatt (driving via Park St, The Diamond & Dublin St) on Monday morning at 10.30am to arrive at St. Macartan’s Cathedral, Monaghan, for funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial in the Latlurcan Cemetery, Monaghan.

Teresa McCabe (née Connolly), Cornasassonagh, Shantonagh, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, Friday, July 25. Beloved wife of the late Peter. Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Mary Anne Connolly, brothers Patrick and Hughie, sisters Maura and Kathleen, daughter-in-law Rosaleen and son-in-law Paddy. Loving remembered by her children Ann, Madge, Michael, Peter, son-in-law Frank, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family circle, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her residence (Cornasassonagh - A75 EF61) today from 3pm to 7pm. Removal on Monday morning to St. Michael’s Church, Corduff, A81 X312, arriving for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in adjoining Cemetery.
