Dry, sunny morning but showers on the way

Weather update from Met Éireann

Mixed weather over the coming days with showers or longer spells of rain at times. Maximum temperatures of around 15 to 19 degrees. That's the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.

This morning will be dry in many areas with sunny spells. Scattered showers in the west and northwest will extend further east through the day. Early this evening rain will develop in the southwest and will spread over much of Munster by nightfall. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with light southwest breezes.

Tonight, rain will continue to spread northwards to most of Ireland and will become heavy at times, especially over Munster and south Leinster with spot flooding possible. Parts of the northwest and north may stay mainly dry. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees with mostly light easterly or variable breezes.

Wednesday morning will be wet in most areas with rain continuing, heaviest in parts of Leinster with spot flooding possible. The rain will clear slowly eastwards through the afternoon and evening with sunny spells and scattered showers following. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees with light variable breezes becoming moderate west to northwest as rain clears.

Mostly dry with clear spells overnight on Wednesday. There'll be some showers in the west and northwest and a possibility of some rain in the south. Patches of mist and fog will form with light and variable winds. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees.

Thursday morning will be mostly dry and sunny although there'll be a few showers towards Atlantic coasts. Showers will develop in other areas during the afternoon but there'll still be plenty of dry and bright weather also. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with a light to moderate westerly breeze.

A few showers in the west and northwest on Thursday night but otherwise dry with long clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees in a light to moderate southerly breeze.

Friday will be dry in many areas. A few showers will develop in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with a moderate southwesterly wind.

Saturday will start off mainly dry with some sunshine. Showers will develop during the day and more persistent rain will develop in the west in the evening. The rain will spread eastwards on Saturday night. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees moderate southerly winds, freshening later.

Sunday will be a wet day in many areas with spells of rain, which will eventually clear to the northeast on Sunday evening with showers following. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees moderate to fresh southerly winds veering westerly as rain clears.

The early days of next week look like being unsettled with heavy showers or longer spells of rain at times.
