A damp start to the day but sunny spells later
Weather update from Met Éireann
A damp start today. Any lingering overnight rain, drizzle and fog will clear eastwards in the morning. It'll be mostly cloudy in the morning with just limited bright spells, but there's likely to be more in the way of sunny spells through the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees with moderate to fresh and gusty southwesterly winds, strong or near gale force near western and northern coasts.
Tonight, showery outbreaks of rain will push up from the south, mainly affecting Munster and Leinster with some heavy falls possible. Staying largely dry in Ulster and Connacht with the longest clear spells in the northwest. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 13 degrees in mostly light to moderate southwesterly winds, fresh at first in the north and west and strengthening near southern coasts by morning.
Tomorrow will bring showery outbreaks of rain feeding northwards but dry periods too. It'll become rather humid with some hill and coastal fog. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees generally with light south or variable winds becoming a fresher south to southwesterly.
Dry tomorrow night for much of the northwest with isolated showers. However, showery outbreaks of rain will continue to affect southern and eastern areas. Mild and humid with lowest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds.
Showery outbreaks of rain will affect mainly eastern parts for a time on Friday, before clearing into the Irish Sea. A mix of cloud and some bright or sunny spells elsewhere with isolated showers. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in mostly light breezes.
Mostly dry on Friday night with light winds and calm conditions leading to some mist and fog patches. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 12 degrees. Some rain may edge into the southeast by morning.
Turning gradually cooler over the weekend with northerly winds likely to set in. A good deal of uncertainty in the details at present with current indications suggesting some wet and blustery weather may affect parts of the east and south at times, with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers elsewhere.
