Dream big, start local - making it happen

Cavan entrepreneur Sandra Coote has been named as the Cavan Enterprise Ambassador for this year’s National Women’s Enterprise Day.

The news has been confirmed by the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Cavan, which also outlined details for this year’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

The free event will take place on Thursday, October 16, in The Farnham Estate, with the theme ‘Dream Big, Start Local – Making it Happen’ taking centre stage. The event will bring together female entrepreneurs, business leaders, and professionals from across the county to celebrate and connect as part of a nationwide programme of events marking the 20th anniversary of this unique initiative.

National Women’s Enterprise Day is celebrated simultaneously across Ireland, showcasing the achievements of women in business and highlighting the supports available to encourage more women to start, sustain, and grow their enterprises.

The Cavan event will feature a line-up of inspirational speakers including Sammy Leslie of Castle Leslie Estate, Monaghan; motivational speaker and author Belinda O’Neill; and Sandra Coote of Crafts of Ireland, who has been announced as the LEO Cavan Ambassador for 2025. Sandra will share her entrepreneurial journey, from building her craft business in Cavan to becoming a recognised voice for local enterprise.

Speaking at the launch, Conor Craven, Head of Enterprise, LEO Cavan, said: “We provide a range of financial, business, training and development supports for female entrepreneurs. National Women’s Enterprise Day gives us the opportunity to further stimulate female entrepreneurship in the county, providing networking opportunities, and celebrating women’s achievements.

"This year is particularly special as we celebrate 20 years of National Women’s Enterprise Day. The event provides a unique opportunity for Cavan women in business to come together, gain inspiration, and build connections that will support their enterprises into the future.”

With over 70 places already booked and numbers limited to just 90 participants, early booking is strongly advised to avoid disappointment.

The evening will also include networking opportunities and a buffet reception, coordinated by Cavan Women in Business Network on behalf of LEO Cavan.
