Low pressure will continue to dominate weather systems over the coming days, bringing unsettled and mixed conditions. It will be windy at times and some showers will be heavy with hail possible. Some sunny spells too. That's the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.
Cloudy today with isolated showers drifting in across western counties, but some clear spells along the east. Rain will develop across Munster and Connacht this afternoon, turning heavy and persistent with spot flooding possible. A few isolated thundery bursts are possible in the far south later this afternoon and early evening. Eastern and northern areas remaining mostly dry. Highest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees with light winds.
Wet for most tonight with outbreaks of rain, heavy at times with some spot flooding and thundery bursts possible, especially in southern and southeastern parts. The rain will clear southeastwards later in the night followed by isolated showers. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 8 degrees with light winds becoming fresh northwesterly overnight.
Thursday will see a wet start in the east and southeast as rain clears into the Irish Sea through the morning. It will be blustery with scattered showers pushing in from the Atlantic, most frequent in the northwest and west and becoming heavier in the afternoon with some hail possible. However, there will be some long sunny spells too. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees with moderate to fresh west to northwest winds, strong on western and northwestern coasts.
Showers will be most frequent and heaviest over the western half of the country on Thursday night. Some clear spells too. Lows of 4 to 8 degrees, coolest in the east, with moderate to fresh and even strong mostly southwesterly winds.
A mix of showers and sunny spells on Friday. The showers will be most frequent and heaviest over the southern half of the country, before becoming lighter and more isolated later in the day. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, stronger on Atlantic coasts, becoming northerly through the day.
A mostly dry night on Friday with long clear spells. Some showers on western and northern coastal areas. Lows of 4 to 8 degrees with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, stronger on western and northern coasts.
A dry and bright start for many on Saturday before widespread showers move down over the country from the north. The showers will be heavy at times with some hail possible. Highs of 8 to 11 degrees with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, stronger along some Atlantic coasts.
Sunday is expected a cloudy day with outbreaks of rain and drizzle moving into the northwest in the morning and spreading southeastwards across the country through the day. A clearance to scattered showers and clear spells will follow towards nightfall. Highs of 10 to 13 degrees with moderate westerly winds, freshening through the day.
Monday should be mostly dry for many with long sunny spells. Scattered showers will be most frequent on northern and northwestern coasts. Highs of 10 to 14 degrees with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, stronger on Atlantic coasts.
