Five additional gardaí for Cavan and Monaghan
Minister for Justice made the announcement a short time ago
FIVE additional gardaí have been assigned to Cavan and Monaghan.
The announcement was made just a short time ago to the Anglo-Celt.
Two of the new officers will be stationed in the Cavan Garda District, one has been assigned to the Bailieboro District and two to Monaghan Garda District.
Fianna Fáil TD Brendan Smith confirmed the appointments made today by his party colleague, Minister of Justice Jim O’Callaghan.
“I wish the new Gardai and their colleagues every success, good health and safety in the important work they do throughout Cavan and Monaghan and throughout the country," Deputy Smith said.
Monaghan-based TD David Maxwell (FG) also welcomed the announcement of seven additional gardai across the Louth-Cavan-Monaghan District with two also being annoiunced for each Drogheda and Dundalk districts.
“More Gardaí is one of the most effective measures we have for preventing crime and ensuring people feel safe and supported in their local areas.
“Across the country, 167 new Gardaí have been attested, with a further intake of up to 215 Garda trainees due to enter the Garda College in Templemore next Monday, 9 February.”
