Milder days but rain to persist
Weather update from Met Éireann
While the next few days will be milder, the rain or showers won't be far away as Met Éireann is forecasting for further unsettled conditions.
Today will start with bright spells and scattered showers in northern areas. Rain and drizzle developing in the south-west early this morning and spreading north-eastwards to all areas through the day. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees with light to moderate south to south-west winds.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy with patchy light rain, drizzle and mist. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees with moderate to fresh southerly winds.
Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with patchy light rain, drizzle and mist. More persistent rain will develop in the west during the afternoon and will spread further inland through the evening. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees with moderate to fresh southerly winds.
Tuesday night will continue cloudy with rain in most areas, heavy at times. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees with southerly winds easing from light to moderate.
On Wednesday, rain will gradually clear eastwards with showers following, some heavy with thunder and hail possible. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees, with light to moderate south to southwest winds.
On Wednesday night, showers will gradually die out with some drier and clearer breaks for a time. However, rain will develop in the west overnight. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees with light to moderate southwest winds freshening towards morning.
On Thursday morning, showery rain will spread eastwards across the country. Through the afternoon and evening, heavier rain will spread north-eastwards across the country with strong winds possible also. Rain will continue for much of Thursday night. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.
On Friday, rain will clear eastwards with sunshine and showers following from the west, some possibly of hail. It will become colder with afternoon temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees and fresh, gusty west to northwest winds.
Next weekend will continue unsettled with further spells of rain and showers. Temperatures will reach between 7 and 10 degrees.
