€70,000 climate funding for Templeport St Aidan’s
Templeport St Aidan’s GAA will receive €70,000 in Community Climate Action funding to upgrade their clubhouse and install environmentally-friendly facilities.
The building fabric of the west Cavan club is set to be upgraded, as well as the installation of a new heating system, LED lighting, a solar PV system and bicycle parking. There are also plans for dispersed orchard, which they intend to plant in a waste area of ground at the facility.
The existing clubhouse is 20 years' old and needed a major retrofit to bring it up to date, in line with its new A-rated extension to the right-hand side of the building.
“This funding is a big stepping stone to carrying out that work,” club chair Micheal Maguire told the Celt, whose company ‘Michael Maguire Architects’ prepared the application on behalf of the club.
“I’m delighted to have obtained that funding and I would like to thank everyone who assisted us with that project, especially Cavan County Council who assisted us during the project.”
