Festival organisers face loss after Tickets.ie closure

Tickets.ie is owned by Myticket Services, a subsidiary of the German entertainment giant DEAG

Festival organisers are reeling after the sudden closure of ticketing platform Tickets.ie, with some claiming a collective loss of over €400,000.

The company’s website now displays a stark message: “Oshi Software Limited, trading as Tickets.ie, has ceased trading and the directors are taking steps to place the company into liquidation and appoint a liquidator over the company.”

The announcement has left festival organisers scrambling. Cowboys and Heroes country music festival in Ballinamore reports losses of €135,000, while The Rory Gallagher International Festival in Ballyshannon says it is out €283,100.

The closure affects ticket holders as well. Tickets.ie advises customers to “wait to hear from the relevant event promoter directly regarding their event,” leaving many festivalgoers uncertain about refunds or event details.

The liquidation process, according to the company, will be conducted in line with the Companies Acts, with a liquidator to be appointed and details published once confirmed. The statement thanked “customers, event promoters, and partners for their support and loyalty over many years” and expressed gratitude for the trust placed in Tickets.ie.

Tickets.ie is owned by Myticket Services, a subsidiary of the German entertainment giant DEAG, which has yet to respond to requests for comment.
