Gardaí are investigating the alleged suspicious approach of a child in Cavan Town yesterday

GARDAÍ are investigating the inappropriate approach of a child by a man in the John Paul Avenue of Cavan Town on Friday.

The 'Celt understands a man in a white Nissan Qashqai approached a young girl in the residential area and attempted to entice her into his vehicle.

The child's mother reported the incident to gardaí.

A statement from An Garda Síochána confirmed they received a report about the man's approach in the vehicle.

In a statement, An Garda Síochána said their enquiries are 'ongoing'.
