Popular pub owner tragically died in Sunday's crash
The man who died following a fatal road traffic collision in Cavan at the weekend has been named locally.
Patsy McKenna (79), proprietor of Nobby's Pub, Corgreagh, Kill, Cootehill, was seriously injured in a single-vehicle collision involving his motorcycle at Drumsillagh, Tullyvin, at approximately 10.50am on Sunday, July 5.
Emergency services and Gardaí attended the scene, and Mr McKenna was treated by paramedics before being airlifted from Kill football pitch to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead later that same evening.
The road had been closed for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators before reopening later in the day.
Mr McKenna's is predeceased by his parents, Tommy and Molly, and his brother, Dominic.
He is deeply mourned by his brothers, JJ and Brian, sisters Lucy and Kathleen, sisters-in-law Bernie and Marie, brother-in-law Michael, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, neighbours, cousins and his many friends.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
Garda appeal
Gardaí are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the fatal collision and have appealed for witnesses to come forward, including those travelling in the Drumsillagh/Tullyvin area between 10am and 11am on Sunday and may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, to contact investigating Gardaí.
