Monaghan’s comeback season in senior camogie finished in the best way possible as they pipped Mayo by 1-14 to 2-10 in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Junior Championship Final in Longford on Saturday.

Monaghan had lost to Mayo three times during 2026 as they returned to the senior inter-county scene, but they got it right on the big day, with a fortuitous goal from Karen Boyle helping them lead by 1-8 to 0-6 at half-time. Mayo threatened to repeat their National League Division 3B victory when they battled back into it via two goals from sub Laoise Greally, but with Monaghan’s defence standing firm and Marie Greenan keeping the scoreboard ticking over, they did enough to get over the line by the narrowest of margins in a thrilling finish.
