Staff from Glasleck Stables, Shercock, with their four winning horses

Shercock trainer has four wins out of five in a day

A SHERCOCK horse trainer has had the best weekend of his career after he landed four remarkable wins in just one day.

On what will be remembered at Glassleck Stables as Super Saturday, trainer Patrick Magee ran five horses in Navan and Limerick; four of which were first past the post.

Such was the achivement, anyone who backed all four winners would have had accumulated odds worth 3,984-1.

The trainer won a ‘magic’ treble in Navan at 1,137- 1 and one more in Limerick telling racing journalists, “Most of the yard were on!’

The day was kickstarted with ShestheDevil winning the two-year-old maiden at 22-1 before Admiral Will Brown scored on his stable debut to give Paddy his first double by landing a handicap at 10-1.

Stable favourite, Arch Enemy, rounded off a very special day for Paddy when she won the final race at Navan Racing Festival.

It was Arch Enemy’s eighth win for the local trainer and her first since a hurdles’ success at Fairyhouse in December 2024.

Then, in Limerick, Glen Breeze gave the Cavan trainer his fourth winner of the day by landing the DAR Golf And Mann Family Handicap.

Patrick Magee, who only took out his training licence in 2022, never had two winners in one day before. Up until Saturday, he had trained just two flat winners in 2026.

The former point-to-point racer was delighted with his stable’s success but said he couldn’t have done it without his staff.

“I have to thank all the staff - Emily is with me full-time, a young girl Amy from Kingscourt, and Corey McGivern is home from Australia and is in helping me out. He's a massive help. I have to thank my family, my parents and my wife.”

He also thanked Fergal Halford who does a lot of Paddy’s pre-training.

Speaking to the Celt, Patrick Magee, described having four winners out of five runners in one day as “The stuff dreams are made of!”

“Everything just came together for us,” he added.

Looking to the future, the trainer said he hopes wins like those on Saturday will encourage more owners and syndicates to Glassleck Stables.

As a relatively new training stables which specialises in full livery, breaking, pre-training, and sales preparation, he said Glassleck would not have the budget for the likes of Admiral Will Brown at the sales, but now people are beginning to take “a wee bit of notice”.

But Saturday was a day for celebrating four victories and for staff to enjoy the spoils of incredible odds.
