It is with deep love and great appreciation for this wonderful lady that Bridget's (Bridgie's) family lay her to rest.
She died peacefully on Friday morning in the loving care of the staff at St. Enda's Ward, University Hospital Galway, with her dearly loved family at her side and in her 92nd year.
Beloved wife of the late Johnny, daughter of the late Bridget and Terence and sister of the late Alice, Kathleen, Rose, Mary and brothers Michael and Lawrence.
Mourned and deeply missed by her sons and daughters Charlie (Carol), Terry, Ann, Vincent (Berniece), Paul (Dorothy), Noreen (Gus), Carmel (David), Trevor (Lani) and Declan, grandchildren Kristine, Morgan, Dylan, Robyn, Rhys, Larkin, Arlo, Remi, Cedar, Ian, Jane, Mark, Ross, Alex, Abby, Millie, Lucy, Charlie and Lewis and their husbands and partners and her great-grandchildren Robyn, Milo, Bonnie, Mable and Theo, whom she loved dearly.
Fondly remembered with great love and affection by her Sister Elle, brother Owen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Dr. John Lally and to all the carers and staff who looked after our Mum with such kindness and compassion. Your care and support brought great comfort to Mum and to all of us as a family. We will always be deeply grateful for the kindness, dignity and warmth you showed her, especially during her final days.
Forever in our hearts, Mum.

Bridget will lie in Repose at St. Anthony's Room, within the Church of St. John the Apostle, Knocknacarra, from 4.30 p.m. with Removal into the Church at 6.00 p.m.
Wednesday, 12th August, 2026
Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Bridget at 11.30 a.m. Following Mass she will be laid to rest with Johnny in Rahoon cemetery.

Bernie passed away on the 7th August, 2026 surrounded by her loving family in the wonderful care of the doctors and nurses of St. James’s Hospital.
Predeceased by her father Hugh Pa, mother Kathleen and brother-in-law John Shannon.
Sadly missed by her sisters Mary (Hugh) Margaret and Geraldine, her brothers Frank (Sheila), Mickey, Pete (Bernie) Eamonn and Brendan (Helen), her much loved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and her many good friends.
May she rest in peace.

Late of Tossey, Loughmourne, August 8th 2026, peacefully at Drumbear Lodge Nursing Home, in her 99th year, surrounded by her loving family.
Predeceased by her husband Francie and her grandson Emmett Connolly.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters Geraldine (Fergus O’Connor) and Ursula (Joe Tracey), her sons Frank (Mary) and Paudge (Monica), her 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives and friends.

The death has occurred of Margaret Murtagh (née Holland). Tullyrain, Shantonagh, Castleblayney. 8th August 2026, in her 90th year. Peacefully at her home, surrounded by her cherished family.
Predeceased by her husband Tommy, her infant daughter, her parents Charles & Mary Ann and her brothers Bernard, Patsy, Charles & Sylvester.
Sadly missed and remembered with love by her beloved family; her daughter Maria and her sons Gerry, Tom, Jake, Paddy, Charlie & Michael, her daughters-in-law Nadia, Rosie, Denise, Bernie, Yvonne, Patricia & Hilary, her twenty-three much-loved grandchildren, her sister May Joyce, her brother-in-law Noel and her sisters-in-law Sr. Bernadette & Kathleen, her nephews, nieces, relatives, friends, neighbours and her wonderful carers.

Margaret's funeral cortège will leave her home on Tuesday, 11th August, proceeding to the Sacred Heart Church, Lough Egish, A75 VX44, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining Cemetery.

The death has occurred of Sr. Elizabeth O’Brien, Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, St. Anne’s Nursing Home, Ballybay, Co. Monaghan, and formerly of Knockmanagh, Kilcummin, Killarney, Co. Kerry, who passed away peacefully on Saturday August 8th, in the tender loving care of the nurses and staff of St. Anne’s Nursing Home, Ballybay.
Predeceased by her parents Aeneas and Bridget O’ Brien, brother Bernie O’ Brien, sisters, Sr Pius O’Brien and Sheila Healy, sister in-law Breda O’ Brien.
Sr. Elizabeth is deeply regretted and lovingly remembered by her nieces, Martina Healy, Bridget Flynn, Elizabeth Joy, Joan O’ Neill, nephews, Paudie Healy, Aeneas Healy, Aeneas O’ Brien, brother-in-law, Hugh Healy, extended family, her religious community, the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, her many friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Sr. Elizabeth will repose at Wards Funeral Home Ballybay (A75H585) on Monday afternoon from 4pm until removal at 5:40pm to arrive at St. Patrick’s Church Ballybay for reception prayers at 6pm. Requiem mass to celebrate the life of Sr. Elizabeth will be offered on Tuesday in St. Patricks Church Ballybay at 11am, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Sr Elizabeth a member of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, was born on 5 April 1936 in Knockmanagh, Kilcummin, Killarney, Co. Kerry.
From her early years, Elizabeth was called to a life of service and dedication in religious life. As a Sister of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, she gave many years of faithful service through her gift for cooking and homemaking, bringing her practical skills and caring nature to the communities and places where she served.
Her apostolate was centred particularly on cooking and homemaking, a ministry through which she quietly contributed to the wellbeing and happiness of those around her. She served in a number of communities in Ireland, including Glandore, Myross Wood and Moyne Park, where she was part of the life and work of the communities associated with the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.
In 1971, Sr Elizabeth came to Ballybay, where she began her long association with St Joseph’s Nursing Home (St. Anne’s) There, she served as the main cook, a role she carried out with dedication and commitment for many years. Through her work in the kitchen, she provided not simply meals but a daily expression of care and service to the residents and those who worked alongside her.
Ballybay became her home for many years. She continued her ministry at St Joseph’s Nursing Home (St. Anne’s)until her retirement, after which she remained there as a resident. Thus, the place where she had given so much of her life in service became, in her later years, her home and place of rest.
