€14M tender advertised
Cavan County Council has launched a €14M public procurement competition for the construction and completion of a 44-unit housing development in Cootehill.
The contract covers the delivery of the full residential development over an estimated 18-month construction period at Lios na Rí, Munnilly.
The project involves completing external works to 13 substantially completed homes and the construction of 31 additional residential units.
The procurement follows a Part VIII planning process initiated by Cavan County Council in July 2025.
The new-build element will include a mix of 21 housing types comprising including one-bed apartments and two-, three- and four-bed properties of varying designs.
The successful contractor will also undertake revisions to the estate layout, including changes to site boundaries, roads, footpaths and public open spaces.
The contract will also include alterations to the adjoining public road, the upgrade of the site’s wastewater pumping station, and completion of all associated site services and infrastructure works.
Interested contractors have until 12pm on August 31 to submit interest.
Rockcorry housing
Separately, Monaghan County Council has received funding under the Social Housing Investment Programme (SHIP) for 21 new social housing units in Rockcorry.
The multi-million-euro development at An Creagán, Monneill, Maghernaharny and Rockcorry will comprise nine bungalows and 12 two-storey houses, with completion due in the third quarter of 2027.
Senator Robbie Gallagher and Cllr Seamus Coyle welcomed the approval by Minister James Browne. The project is progressing through the new Single Approval Process and will be delivered indirectly through a Partnership Development Agreement.
The development will cater for general housing needs, older people and people with disabilities.
Senator Gallagher said the greenfield site is ideally located on the edge of the village and within 1.5km of the local school, shops, churches and health centre.
“This is great news for Rockcorry and the local area. The development will provide high-quality, sustainable social housing, meet local housing needs, support community development and contribute to the long-term vitality of the village,” he said.
