It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Kay (Kathleen) Mc Cabe

Dublin / Belturbet, Cavan

The death has occurred of Kay [Kathleen] Mc Cabe, Charleville Road, Dublin & Belturbet, Co Cavan, on 24th March 2024, peacefully, in the wonderful care of the Staff of Clontarf Hospital, after a short illness. Much loved aunt of Brian, Barry, Ian & Fidelma; missed by nieces-in-law Ann-Marie, Jacquie, Mary & Susanna, nephew-in-law Bernard, and all her grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by her brothers Anthony & Bernard, sister Eileen, sister-in-law May, and nephews Kieran & Maurice. Also missed by a wide circle of friends, including great neighbours in Charleville Road.

Funeral Mass will be held in St Peter's Church, Phibsboro, on Thursday, 4th April, at 10.30 a.m. In line with Kay’s wishes her body has been donated to medical research, so burial will be at a later date.

John Joe Cooney

Lurganbawn, Bailieborough, Cavan

John Joe Cooney, Lurganbawn, Bailieborough, Co Cavan died on the 24th March 2024 peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the wonderful care of the staff in the ICU at Cavan General Hospital.

John Joe will be deeply regretted by his loving wife Anna, beloved father of Kathleen, Breda, Noeleen, Pauline, P.J., Geraldine, Annette and Declan, sons-in-law Seamus, Brian, Joe and Ciarán, daughter-in-law Niamh, cherished grandchildren Ciara, Laoise, Darragh, Eve, Séan, Anna, Tara, Aisling, Dylan, Cathy, Christopher, Fionn, John Joe, Shane, Angela and Patrick, his treasured niece Ann Tierney, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Clarke's Funeral Home, Bailieborough on Tuesday 26th March from 5pm - 8pm. Funeral to arrive at St. Anne's Church, Bailieborough on Wednesday for Funeral Mass at 2pm with burial afterwards in St. Anne's Cemetery. Live streaming in St. Anne's Church, Bailieborough is unavailable as the webcam is out of order.

Kevin Fitzmaurice

Leigh Valley, Ratoath, Meath / Sutton, Dublin / Kilcogy, Cavan

The death has occurred of Kevin Fitzmaurice, Pharmacist, of Leigh Valley, Ratoath, late of Dublin Road, Sutton and Kilcogy, Co Cavan. 25th March 2024.

Peacefully, at home, in his 98th year. Surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Una and father of Susan, Celine, and the late Caroline. Kevin will be sadly missed by his family, sons-in-law Stephen, Doug and Carl, his twelve Grand-children and nine great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Joan and Grainne, brother-in-law Joe, nieces, nephews, friends and wonderful neighbours.

Reposing at his home in Leigh Valley, Ratoath from 4pm until 7 pm on Tuesday evening. Funeral Mass on Wednesday 27th March 2024 at 11 o'clock in The Holy Trinity Church, Ratoath followed by burial in adjoining cemetery.

Anne Hawthorne (née Coote) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in the wonderful care of the staff at Virginia Primary Care Centre, Dublin Rd., Virginia and formerly of Billis, New Innes, Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan on Monday 25th March 2024.

Beloved wife of the Late William Hawthorne and loving mother of David, John, Hubert, Yvonne, Robert, Ann, Noel, Jean and Linda. Sadly missed by her sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, family, neighbours and many friends.

Resting at Mathews Funeral Home, Bailieborough Rd., Virginia (A82YV58) on Tuesday evening from 5pm - 7pm. Funeral Service in Billis Parish Church on Wednesday at 2pm with burial afterwards in the adjoining Churchyard.

The death has occurred of Bernadette Morgan (nee McGrath), Drumalish, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan. Tuesday 26th March, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in the kind and gentle care of staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

Loving wife of Seamus (Ginger) and cherished mother of Michelle (Brendan Gormley), Evelyn (Eddie Lavelle) and Gary (Teresa). Pre-deceased by her parents, Leo and Kathleen, her brother Kevin and sisters Patricia and Kathleen (in infancy).

Bernadette will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her husband, son, daughters, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother Leo and sisters Ann and Christina, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and large circle of great friends.

Bernadette will repose at her residence (EircodeA75YY28) on Thursday 28th March from 2pm until 8pm. House private at all other times by family request.

Removal from her residence on Good Friday at 10.30am to arrive at St Mary’s Church, Castleblayney for funeral liturgy at 11.00am, followed by private cremation at Lakeland’s Crematorium, Cavan.

The death has occurred of Bridie Mc Gowan (neé Hughes) 26 O’Duffy Terrace, Ballybay, Co.Monaghan. Tuesday, March 26th, peacefully at St Mary’s Hospital, Castleblayney in her 92nd year surrounded by her family.

Predeceased by her husband Malachy, parents Bernard and Mary-Ann, sisters Rose and Katie, brother Edward.

Bridie, deeply regretted and remembered with love by her family, son Malachy, daughter in-law Kay, grandsons Eamonn (Roseanna), John-Paul (Carmel) and Shane (Jom), great-grandchildren Terrina, Tarrin, Lizzie, Jack and Connor, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

The death has occurred of Packie Quigley, Carn, Newtownbuttler Rd, Clones, Co. Monaghan (H23 X922) and formerly of Packie Willie's, The Diamond, Clones and Drumguiff, Roslea, Co. Fermanagh. Packie passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday 26th March 2024. Predeceased by his parents William and Mary-Ann, sister Margaret (Lynch), brothers Tommy, Mickey and Eddie, son Mickey and his son-in-law Mickey (Kelly). Packie will be resting at the family home, Carn, Newtownbuttler Rd., Clones (H23 X922) on Tuesday 26th from 5pm to 8pm and on Wednesday, 27th, from 2pm to 9pm with removal on Thursday morning, 28th, at 10.00am for Funeral Liturgy in Sacred Heart Chapel, Clones, at 11am, followed by burial in Mount St Oliver's Cemetery, Clones. Packies’s funeral cortège to the chapel will travel via Mullnamoy Lane, Cavan Rd, (walking from The Diamond approx 10.40am) and Fermanagh St.

Peacefully, at her residence.

Predeceased by her husband Hugh.

Sadly missed by her loving family, daughter Patricia, sons John and Paul, grandchildren David, Mark, Shauna, Niall, Stephen, Rachel and Emma, daughters in law Geraldine and Margaret, son in law John, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
