Breaking: Cavan to face Kerry in last-12 clash

GAA news

The draw for the All-Ireland SFC Preliminary Quarter-Finals took place this morning, with Cavan pitted against Kerry next weekend.

Cavan’s All-Ireland campaign started brightly with a win over Mayo but successive heavy losses to Donegal and, yesterday, Tyrone mean that the Breffnimen go into the last 12 short on confidence – and the draw has not been kind.

While Kerry were beaten by Meath in an upset on Saturday, they remain among the favourites for Sam Maguire. Cavan have conceded 3-57 in their last two matches and will need a major improvement in form to trouble the Kingdom, whom Cavan last beat in championship football in 1947.

The GAA will confirm fixture details shortly.
