Cannabis seized by gardaí in Ballybay house search

Cannabis herb with an estimated value of over €90,000 was seized in Ballybay last week.

Gardaí attached to the Monaghan Drugs Unit conducted the search under warrant at a residence in the Co. Monaghan town on Friday, June 13. The search was part of Operation Tara and ongoing investigations into the sale and supply of drugs and related criminal activity.

During the course of the search, the substantial volume of cannabis herb was recovered (analysis pending), along with a quantity of cash and several electronic devices.

A man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the investigation and detained at a Garda station in Co. Monaghan under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. He has since been released pending further inquiries.

A file will be prepared for submission to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Investigations are ongoing.
