More settled weather for the rest of the week

More settled weather for the rest of the week, with drier and brighter conditions developing, and just occasional showers or outbreaks of rain. That's the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.

This morning will be dry for most with a fair amount of cloud but also some bright or sunny spells and isolated showers. More frequent showers will spread from the west through the morning and early afternoon, turning heavy at times, particularly in the south, where they will continue through the evening, and become more isolated elsewhere. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees with a light to moderate west to northwest breeze.

Tonight, showers will continue to become more isolated with dry conditions and clear spells developing for most. Cloud will build from the northwest later with well scattered showers following towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 14 degrees in a light northwesterly or variable breeze.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) will begin largely cloudy with some showers, mainly in the northwest. Sunny spells will develop at times, increasing throughout the day with showers clearing to leave a dry evening for most. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees with a light to moderate northwesterly breeze, fresher at times near northeastern coasts.

A mostly dry night Wednesday with long clear spells. Cloud will build from the west towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 13 degrees in a light northwest or variable breeze.

Thursday will be mostly dry to start with cloud continuing to build from the west bringing a few spots of light rain and drizzle. There will be some brighter and sunnier spells in the afternoon before outbreaks of rain and drizzle develop near Atlantic coasts later in the evening. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees with light to moderate northwest winds, gradually backing southwest through the day.

Largely cloudy overnight on Thursday with patchy rain and drizzle moving eastwards through the night. Temperatures will not fall below of 13 to 16 degrees with a light to moderate westerly wind.

Rather cloudy in Friday morning with well scattered showers, becoming drier through the day with sunny spells developing. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, westerly winds.

Sunny spells and scattered showers on Saturday morning before better sunshine develops through the afternoon as the showers become isolated. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 or 20 degrees with moderate westerly winds, fresher along north and northwest coasts.

Further outlook: Outbreaks of more persistent rain and drizzle are likely on Sunday, with cloud and further spells of rain early next week.
