Three council projects shortlisted for national awards
Three Cavan County Council projects have been shortlisted for the national LAMA All-Ireland Community and Council Awards 2026.
The awards, organised by the Local Authority Members’ Association (LAMA) in partnership with IPB Insurances, shine a spotlight on the incredible collaboration between communities and councils, and provide a platform to showcase outstanding local initiatives, honour unsung heroes, and acknowledge the remarkable contributions that enrich and strengthen our communities.
This year saw a record entry, with 533 projects submitted across 23 categories. Shortlisted Cavan projects include the N55 Corduff South of Killydoon Realignment Project in the ‘Best Transformative Capital Projects’ category, the Storm Éowyn Community Response Hubs in the Best ‘Corporate Social Responsibility in a Community’ category, and the St Brigid’s Place Housing Development in the ‘Excellence in Sustainable Major Infrastructure Delivery’ category.
Chief Executive of Cavan County Council Eoin Doyle said: “I am pleased to see three excellent Cavan County Council projects shortlisted for these prestigious awards. These events provide a welcome opportunity to highlight the efforts of our staff and their collaboration with partner agencies, elected members, industry, and our communities to deliver for County Cavan. While these three projects are indeed worthy of recognition, we deliver almost 1,000 services to the people of Cavan, and I want to commend our staff across the organisation for their ongoing dedication and commitment to excellence.”
Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Cllr John Paul Feeley, said: “I would like to congratulate all of the shortlisted projects and the teams involved on their successful shortlisting for these awards. With an average of 23 projects nominated per category, securing national recognition for three projects is no mean feat, and reflective of the quality of the respective projects, which highlight our steadfast efforts in housing and infrastructure delivery and our collaboration with business and voluntary interests to protect the vulnerable and safeguard our communities during last year’s catastrophic storm Éowyn.”
