Cloudy day ahead with showery outbreaks
Weather update from Met Éireann
Unsettled with rain or showers. Breezy at first but becoming calmer as we go through the weekend. That's the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.
A mostly cloudy and misty day in much of Ulster and Leinster with showery outbreaks of rain in many areas throughout the day. The best of any drier and brighter weather is expected further west although showers will affect the southwest, becoming more isolated this evening. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in light to moderate and variable winds, freshening in Ulster this evening.
Rain will clear northwards early tonight, leaving well scattered showers and clear spells, however areas of mist and fog will develop. Moderate to fresh easterly winds in Ulster at first, but otherwise winds will be light and variable. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +3 degrees, coldest in Munster.
Largely dry and bright for most tomorrow (Friday) with some further well scattered showers at first tomorrow. However, cloud and patchy rain or drizzle will develop in the south through the morning, spreading northwestwards through the day, with clear spells and showers following in the southeast during the evening. Becoming breezy with moderate to fresh easterly winds. Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees.
Cloudy with patchy light rain or drizzle continuing overnight on Friday, moving northwestwards with drier and clearer conditions following for a time before another spell of rain pushes up over the country from the southeast. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees in a moderate to fresh east to northeast wind.
A dull and damp day is expected Saturday as outbreaks of rain and drizzle are pushed up across the country through the day. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in moderate to fresh easterly winds.
Saturday night will be cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees in light to moderate northeasterly winds.
There is some uncertainty in the forecast for Sunday with current indications suggesting patchy rain or showers at times but also some drier and brighter intervals. Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in light to moderate northerly winds.
Early next week: While the details are uncertain at this point, low pressure is forecast to remain in charge, bringing generally unsettled conditions. Potentially turning cooler also.
