More spells of rain over the coming days

Weather update from Met Éireann

Staying unsettled with spells of rain or showers over the coming days; turning a little cooler too towards the end of the week. That the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.

A rather cloudy and damp start today (Tuesday) with some patchy drizzle in places. Outbreaks of rain will develop across the west and southwest later this morning, gradually turning more persistent and spreading further inland this afternoon.

Staying mostly dry further east apart from the odd spot of drizzle with southerly breezes. Quite mild today with highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

Cloudy tonight with rain generally, although staying dry in the east. The rain will become more widespread later in the night however with drizzle developing in the east and south too. Mist and fog patches will form overnight and it'll be rather mild too with lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees with southerly breezes.

Cloudy and wet tomorrow (Wednesday) with rain clearing early in the morning followed by scattered showers. Some of the showers may be heavy at times during the afternoon. Southwesterly breezes will continue and it'll be quite mild with highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.

Showers will gradually die out later on Wednesday night but it will remain rather overcast. South-westerly breezes will remain overnight however with some patchy rain moving in from the west overnight. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.

A largely overcast morning on Thursday with rain in the west and northwest. South-westerly winds will strengthen ahead of a band of heavy rain which will move over southern counties in the afternoon. Some heavy and persistent falls of rain expected together with some very strong and blustery winds during the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees.

Very wet and unsettled overnight on Thursday with rain, heavy at times and very strong and blustery winds. The rain will become widespread for a time before clearing away from the south before dawn. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees.

Friday is again expected cloudy with rain, heavy at times in the west. The rain will gradually clear away by the afternoon with plenty of clear and dry spells developing by evening. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with westerly breezes gradually weakening.

Current indications are for the unsettled weather to continue over the weekend with rain, possibly heavy on Saturday with strong breezes. Sunday will see rain at times while temperatures across both days will reach 10 or 11 degrees.
