Parking trade-offs as bus shelter rollout progresses
Kingscourt, Shercock and Ballyhaise chosen for current programme.
New bus shelters are moving closer across the district- but at a probable cost to parking.
Aontú councillor Adrian Rogers questioned why Bailieborough and Cootehill were not prioritised despite €1.5m in funding.
Senior engineer for the Bailieborough-Cootehill MD, Clinton Mulligan, said locations like Kingscourt, Shercock and Ballyhaise were chosen as “low-hanging fruit” due to ease of delivery.
Support came from Clifford Kelly, while Carmel Brady highlighted strong demand in Cootehill.
Mr Mulligan said safety audits and site constraints mean some parking spaces must be sacrificed.
Work continues to identify suitable locations in remaining towns.
