Brian Adamson’s Bar
Tell us about your business?
Brian Adamson’s Bar is a family-run pub in Clones, a traditional Irish bar serving authentic Italian pizza.
Established in 1982, it is the town’s longest-running business. Over the years, it has weathered recessions, high interest rates, road closures, pandemics, and changing social habits. Employing around 20 staff, the bar opens seven days a week.
Through LEO support, Adamson’s has reduced its carbon footprint. Measures include replacing all refrigeration systems, installing a solar PV system, insulation, introducing an E-Drive beer cooling system and a detergent-free glass washer, and changing to a modern LED lighting system.
“These improvements set us on a wider path toward sustainability. They have greatly improved our energy efficiency and reduced our environmental impact,” said Ross Adamson.
Describe the best thing about your
service:
“We are a family-run business, and that shapes everything we do,” says Ross. For over 44 years, the family has created a place people truly enjoy, where every detail matters, from the food and drink to the warm, comfortable surroundings.
“We aim to offer more than home, with wood-fired pizza like you’d enjoy in Italy, ice-cold beer, live sport across eight big screens, and traditional Irish music. We are more than a bar - we are an experience and a destination.”
What's the best business advice you've ever been given?
If you give, you get. What you put into your business, your customers, and your community comes back to you. Work hard, treat people well, and take pride in everything you do, and it will show in the long run.
What does the future hold for your business?
Looking to the next 40 years, the family are in the process of adding a B&B, which they hope will attract a broader clientele, and they aim to have it open by the end of spring.
