It is understood he had been travelling to a Bank Holiday vintage and field day at the time of the incident.

He is survived by his wife Aimee and daughters Aoife, Ciara and Maeve, parents Cathal and Martina, brother Cathal, sisters Sheila, Kathleen, Maureen and Áine, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing will take place at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan, on Wednesday from 4-8pm, with a break from 6pm to 6.15pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 2pm in the Cathedral of SS Patrick and Felim, Cavan, followed by burial in St. Matthew’s Cemetery, Drumavaddy.

Mourners attending the reposing are asked to respect local residents by following directions from parking attendants and observing parking restrictions in the surrounding area.

Meanwhile, gardaí have renewed their appeal for information in relation to the fatal collision. Road users who may have witnessed the incident, or who were travelling in the area between 9.00am and 12.40pm and may have camera or dash-cam footage, are urged to contact Cavan Garda Station. Investigations remain ongoing, and a forensic examination of the scene has been completed.

Mr Reilly’s death marks the second fatality on Cavan roads this year and the third in the wider region in 2026, underscoring ongoing concerns around road safety.
