CAF Review: A Quiet Love

There was something quietly profound about the screening of A Quiet Love at Cavan Institute on Saturday afternoon. Ahead of its TG4 television debut later this year, the multi award-winning documentary- already screened across four continents- drew a full and deeply engaged audience, including many from the Deaf community, thrilled to see the film screened locally.

The first Irish feature made entirely through the medium of Irish Sign Language (ISL), it tells three love stories with extraordinary intimacy, none more moving than John and Agnes reflecting on their relationship during the height of the conflict in Northern Ireland. Producers Anne Heffernan and Seán Herlihy led a thoughtful and generous discussion afterwards.

On Sunday, the Cavan Community Cinema screened Song of the Sea, a modern classic of Irish animation. SE.
