Cavan schools celebrate Europe Day
Primary school pupils in County Cavan marked Europe Day on Saturday, May 9, by exploring Europe and the European Union through classroom activities designed to be fun, interactive and age-appropriate.
Participating schools in County Cavan included St Aidan’s National School in Bawnboy and St Patrick’s National School in Corlough.
Europe Day commemorates the Schuman Declaration (1950), a landmark proposal that helped begin a new era of European cooperation and laid foundations for today’s European Union.
As part of a coordinated Europe Day schools programme, staff from the Northern & Western Regional Assembly (NWRA) have been engaging with participating schools to hear directly from pupils about what they learned about Europe, the EU and the role of the Regional Assembly.
Each participating school received an EU flag and €250 in book vouchers.
