New traineeship in renewables

A NEW apprenticeship in Renewable Construction Technologies is being delivered in Monaghan in response to opportunities in the sector.

Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB) has partnered with Activ8 Solar Energies in Carrickmacross to deliver a hands-on, expert-led apprenticeship programme for candidates to get started in this fast-growing industry.

Since 2007, Activ8 Energies has installed more than 25,000 solar systems across homes and businesses nationwide to deliver renewable energy solutions that help reduce energy costs and carbon emissions.

The Monaghan firm partnered with SSE Airtricity in 2019, further strengthening its position in the renewable energy sector in Ireland and the UK.

In the meantime, Ireland has accelerated its transition towards a cleaner, more sustainable future with national targets aiming for up to 80% of electricity to come from renewable sources in the coming years.

The traineeship is “more than just a training course”, CMETB Recruitment Officer, Michelle Tilson said. “It’s a chance to step into a forward-looking industry that offers both stability and purpose.”

The course combines classroom-based instruction at Monaghan Institute with hands-on experience at the Activ8 Energies plant.
