Moylagh JFK 50 Mile Challenge returns
Event proceeds going in support of Cancer and Palliative Care Services
Hundreds of walkers, supporters, and volunteers are gathering in Moylagh early tomorrow morning (June 6) for the annual Moylagh JFK 50 Mile Challenge, one of Ireland's most demanding and inspiring charity walking events.
Starting at 6:00am today, participants will embark on a remarkable but gruelling 50-mile journey through some of the most scenic countryside across the counties of Meath, Cavan and Westmeath.
The challenge calls on walkers to complete the full distance in 20 hours or less, testing both physical endurance and mental determination while raising vital funds for charity.
The event supports three important causes: The Irish Cancer Society, LARCC Cancer Support Centre, and local Palliative Care Services. Through sponsorship and fundraising efforts, participants also help provide essential support to individuals and families facing cancer and life-limiting illnesses.
Each walker is asked to raise a minimum of €50 through sponsorship, helping to maximise the impact of the event's charitable mission.
The challenge is inspired by the famous 50-mile fitness challenge promoted by former U.S. President John F. Kennedy, and over the years it has become a fixture on the local fundraising calendar.
