Opportunity for Inniskeen but Corduff ready to pounce

The Senior Football Championship has thrown up some fascinating games this weekend, the pick of which is Corduff vs Inniskeen.

With Scotstown sitting out this weekend, there is an opportunity for Inniskeen to stake an early lead in Group 1.

The Grattans showed signs of promise in last weekend's victory over Latton, although some questions remain unanswered.

Last year's runners-up don't play Scotstown until the final weekend of the group stages (September 20), by which stage both may have already qualified for the knockout stages.

In an ideal world, both sides would prefer not to meet in a do-or-die clash that early in the Championship.

Corduff will have their say in that though. The south Monaghan side will relish the opportunity to host Inniskeen.

Having found themselves in a league relegation play-off, Corduff were never in any danger as they swatted Cremartin aside.

A BYE in the opening round allowed them to assess the playing field, and they will be bursting for action, and the opportunity to claim a big scalp, this weekend.

Latton vs Carrickmacross, Saturday, August 15 at 4pm.

Cordufff vs Inniskeen, Saturday, August 15 at 7pm.

Castleblayney vs Magheracloone, Sunday, August 16 at 2pm.

Cremartin vs Truagh, Sunday, August 16 at 5pm.
