Scotstown down Inniskeen to reach final
Scotstown 1-18
Inniskeen 3-09
Maitiú Monaghan at St. Tiernach's Park Clones
Scotstown are back in the final of the Monaghan Senior Football Championship for the 14th year in a row.
David McCague's side pulled away from a spirited Inniskeen Grattans side in the second-half, to keep their hopes of winning four Mick Duffy Cups in a row alive.
James Hamill's first half goal had David McCauge's side in control of the game, with Tommy Mallen pulling strings for the reigning champions.
However, Inniskeen kept themselves within touching distance, despite missing both Seán and Conor Jones from the start, although both came on as subs.
Andrew Woods' goal on the stroke of half-time sent the sides into the changing rooms level at half-time at 1-7 apiece.
At the beginning of the second half Woods was on hand again, sending Rory Beggan the wrong way from a penalty to put the Grattans in front.
Scotstown lifted the intensity in the second-half, with successive two-pointers from Rory Beggan, Max Maguire, and Jack McCarron putting Scotstown firmly in control with 15 minutes to play.
A late goal from Conor Jones briefly made it a three-point game in injury time, 3-8 to 1-17, and a late chance was palmed over by Seán Jones.
However, the Grattans timed their run too late, with Max Maguire kicking the insurance point to secure the result for Scotstown.
