Sentenced for trespass A Bailieboro man who was convicted of trespassing a house in the town was handed a six-month sentenced when he pleaded guilty to the offence at Bailieboro District Court, sitting in Virginia. Anthony Geraghty, 48 Maple Court, Bailieboro, was convicted of entering the curtilage of 25 Maple Court in such a manner as was likely to cause fear in another person. Inspector Fintan McTiernan said at 12.30am Ms. Sharon Lynch reported that damage had been caused to her friend's car, which was outside her house. Ms. Lynch was also receiving nasty text messages. Gardaí were called the defendant was located in a hedge. When arrested, he denied he was at the house. Rita Martin, solicitor defending, said her client was currently serving a sentence. He was pleading guilty to the offence, saving court time and expense. The defendant was trying to turn his life around but admitted he had a bad record. Taking the defendant's plea into account, Judge MacBride sentenced him to six-months. Possessed cannabis Martin Carroll, 15 Cluain Dara, Kingscourt, was sentenced to one month when he appeared at Bailieboro District Court, sitting in Virginia, charged with possessing cannabis at Cluain Dara, Kingscourt, on March 3, 2009. Inspector Fintan McTiernan informed the court that the defendant had three previous convictions. Drink driving cases A Ballyjamesduff woman who was caught driving with excess alcohol on two separate occasions was fined a total of €300 and disqualified for four years when she pleaded guilty to the offences at Bailieboro District Court, sitting in Virginia. Sarah Carroll, 16 Sally Gardens, Ballyjamesduff, was fined €150 and disqualified from driving for two years and three months for the first offence 49mg/100ml breath that occurred at Lower Main Street, Bailieboro, on January 16. The second offence occurred at Barrack Street, Bailieboro, 65mg/100ml breath and the defendant was fined €150 and disqualified for four years.
