Sentenced for public disorder Terence McDonagh, 56 Drumcarraig, Drumalee, was sentenced to three months from February 11 at Cavan District Court when he pleaded guilty to using or engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour at Lakeview, Cavan, on October 4, 2009. Inspector Alan Cunningham said gardaí were called to a disturbance at lakeview. When they arrived, they found the defendant with a cut on his face. He had a dispute with some of his family. Stole clothing Paddy Ward, 9 The Elms, Swellan, was fined €200 at Cavan District Court when he pleaded guilty to stealing goods to the value of €113 from Dunne Stores, Church Street, Cavan, on August 27, 2009. Community Service Adeshola Bankole (44), 14 Diamond Court, Belturbet, was ordered to complete 80 hours of community service in lieu of two months in prison when he pleaded guilty at Ballyconnell District Court to stealing a mobile phone. He was charged that on December 10 at the Diamond, Belturbet, he stole a mobile phone valued €200 from Hutchinson 3G Ireland Limited. The defendant was also charged with handling the stolen phone. Superintendent Brian Brunton said the defendant placed an order for a mobile phone from Hutchinson 3G Ireland Limited. He set up a bank account with the Bank of Scotland. However, before the phone was delivered he cancelled the account. Gardaí were waiting for him when the phone was delivered. Judge Sean MacBride ordered that the phone be returned to Hutchinson 3G Ireland Limited. Bench warrants issued A number of bench warrants were issued at Ballyconnell District Court including one for Louis Campbell, 31 Ard na Greine, Roscrea, Tipperary and 5 Deanery Court, Belturbet, when he failed to appear on a charge of driving with excess alcohol at Deanery Street, Belturbet, on July 22. He was also charged with failing to appear on bail at the local court on September 8, 2009. A warrant was issued for Shireen McGovern, 5 Doonbeg, Ballyconnell, when she failed to appear on a charge that on May 18, 2009, at McManus Chemist, Main Street, Ballyconnell, she stole three bottles of perfume and one bottle of tanning cream, total value €133, the property of John McManus. Another one was issued for Sharon Sweeney, 76 Ardkeen, Cavan town, when she failed to appear on a charge that on November 11 at centra Erne Hill, Belturbet, she stole an assortment of groceries valued €22.48, the property of Padraig Donohoe. Was in possession of cannabis Sean McGovern (25), 2 Sli McNean, Toam, Blacklion, was ordered to donate €300 to the Cavan Drug Awareness Centre when he pleaded guilty at Ballyconnell District Court to possessing cannabis at Toam, Blacklion, on July 21.
