Sunny spells with a few showers

Dry in many areas this morning with scattered showers mainly in west Ulster, and bright spells developing.

The latest weather forecast from Met Éireann says there will be further showers during the afternoon mixed with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees with a moderate westerly breeze.

Any lingering showers will die out early tonight, becoming largely dry and clear. A few light showers may affect west Ulster overnight. Lowest temperatures of 0 to +3 degrees with a slight frost forming, holding a degree or two milder in west Ulster. Light to moderate southerly breezes.

Tomorrow morning (Friday) will be dry and bright. Becoming cloudier during the afternoon with scattered showers moving northwards across the province. Moderate southerly breezes will freshen on coasts in west Ulster during the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees.

The overview for the coming days shows high pressure will bring a lot of dry and calm weather, with some light rain or drizzle at times. Becoming colder at night with a risk of a slight frost some nights.

Light rain and drizzle will develop in western coastal counties early on Friday night, with drier weather further east. The rain will break up and become patchy as it moves eastwards across the country overnight with misty conditions. Light to moderate southwest breezes will be fresh on western coasts for a time. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees.

Saturday is promised cloudy in many areas to begin, brightening up through the morning. There will be occasional outbreaks of light showery rain or drizzle during the day. The western half of the country will have the best of the sunny spells through the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with light southwest or variable winds.

Saturday night is looking like a largely dry night with patchy drizzle on coasts. Fog will likely form under clear skies and light variable winds. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees.

Fog will be slow to clear during the morning on Sunday with very light or calm winds. It will be dry with low cloud lingering throughout the day in many areas, some drizzle possible near western coasts. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees.

Sunday night will be dry with clear spells. Some fog or low cloud will likely form overnight in light easterly winds. A risk of a slight frost also, with lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees.

The outlook for Monday is for a mostly dry day with sunny spells, highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees with a light or moderate easterly breeze. Rain will develop in the southwest during the evening, spreading across Munster and Connacht overnight. Remaining dry elsewhere with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees, a bit milder across Munster.

Current indications suggest Tuesday and Wednesday will be mild and a little breezier. It will likely be cloudy at times with some outbreaks of rain and drizzle, driest across the north and northeast.
