Vulnerable persons form developed by gardaí
Cavan gardaí have rolled-out a new form specifically in support of vulnerable persons and their families.
The form was developed by the recently established Cavan Community Engagement Unit who engaged with local stakeholders on what was need should a person with dementia goes missing, so that the authorities can then quickly access their details and get the person home safely.
Garda Christine Gallagher of the Cavan Community Engagement Unit spearheaded the project in collaboration with local Dementia Advisor, Elaine Kearney.
With the form in place the Cavan Community Engagement Unit have now commenced on establishing a Vulnerable Persons Register, allowing relatives or carers of persons with dementia and Alzheimers to register details with Cavan gardaí.
This information will be stored securely at the Garda Station and only accessed in the case of an emergency.
The form was launched following the Cavan Older People's Council Roadshow at the Hotel Kilmore last week. Gda Gallagher explained: "If anyone wishes to obtain a form they can contact Cavan Garda Station on 049 4368800 and leave their contact details for Community Engagement Unit. A member will then make contact with them. Forms can be returned in a envelope for Cavan Community Engagement Units attention."
Forms are also available from Cavan Alzheimers Society.
