The Anglo-Celt Street Seisiún...

The Anglo-Celt has launched a street buskers' competition in conjunction with events committee of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann to take place during the fleadh this August. A prize fund of €2,000 is up for grabs, as well as recording time in FM Studios, Belturbet, for the overall winner. The first place winner will receive a cheque for €1,000 from The Anglo-Celt. There will be junior (aged 12 and under) and senior categories in the competition. The emphasis will be on fun and entertainment with traditional music, singers and dancers all encouraged to take part. Judges will be talented spotting for buskers throughout the week and weekend of the All-Ireland fleadh. The final will take place on the main gig rig on the Market Square on Sunday, August 21, between 6pm and 8pm. Editor, Linda O'Reilly, said that The Anglo-Celt is delighted to support the fleadh and do its bit to make sure that it is a success for Cavan. "We are conscious that a large part of the fleadh is for competitors who have already qualified at county and regional level. We want to give other talented musicians a chance to be part of it. We also want to encourage music on the street and bring the fleadh to the people," she said. Register your interest at www.anglocelt.ie/streetseisiun
