Sod turned on new €1.2m Tullyveela NS

It was a proud day for the teachers and students at Tullyveela National School, Corlough, last Friday when the sod was turned on site for the new €1.2m school to be constructed. The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Cavan Monaghan TD, Brendan Smith, officially turned the sod. The new school, which is being constructed on a green-field site, will consist of three classrooms, a general purpose room and ancillary facilities, including an access road and a treatment plant. "Last month I was able to announce that the contract for the new school had been awarded and I am delighted to be here this morning to mark the commencement of construction of this major project that will cost in the region of €1.2 million," he said. Contractors Sammon Contracting Ltd will now proceed with the construction of the new school. "Tremendous progress is being made in the provision of new school buildings throughout County Cavan and I look forward to being back here once again to mark the opening of the new building," added Minister Smith. He extended warm congratulations to the school's principal, teachers, children, the Parents Association, as well as the chairman of the Board of Management and the other members for their interest and work in progressing the new school project.
