The failure of large businesses in Kingscourt to take up fibre optic broadband was puzzling, said the chief executive of the company tasked with managing the state-provided Metropolitan Area Networks, known in the industry as MANs.
E net are contracted to manage the broadband network on behalf of the government and Conal Henry came before the October meeting of Cavan County Council to explain the take up of the state-provided high-speed system in County Cavan. He promised to sort out the situation in Kingscourt "if it kills me".
The lack of fibre optic broadband in the west of the county was highlighted by councillors from the Belturbet electoral area with Cllr John Paul Feeley claiming that there was a technological divide in the county.
