Independent candidate, Sean Gallagher, is delighted with the huge vote that he received in last Thursday's Presidential election, particularly the vote that he gained in his native Cavan/Monaghan constituency.

Mr Gallagher received 26,150 first preference votes in Cavan/Monaghan more than twice the combined votes of the other front runners, Martin McGuinness (on 11,940) and the eventual winner Michael D. Higgins (on 11,471).
