Tenders issued for Cavan crematorium

Seamus Enright The funeral home behind the first crematorium to be sited in a regional town in Ireland has issued tenders seeking the supply, installation and commissioning of cremation equipment at their current site. Finnegan's Funeral Home on the Dublin Road, Cavan Town announced in April their plans to open a new crematorium adjacent to their current premises, which they hoped would be open to the public for use before the end of the year. Currently the existing crematoria in Ireland are located in Dublin, Cork and Belfast. Full planning permission has been received and works are due to commence in the near future. Now Finnegan's have sought the supply, installation and commissioning of a cremation plant and all necessary ancillary equipment and features, with the installation conforming with the UK Secretary of State's Guidance for Crematoria - there is no equivalent guidance in Ireland. A family run business, Finnegan's Funeral Service was established in the 1940s with current proprietor Declan taking over from his late uncle Joe Finnegan in the late half of the 1980s.
