Dunancory Bridge opening delayed

Progress on work on Dunancory Bridge in Virginia has been further delayed. Cavan County Council made a statement on the delay on their webpage.

In it they say: “Owing to prevailing ground conditions and health and safety reasons, Cavan County Council requires the extension of the road closure at Dunancory Bridge until 5pm on Saturday, November 14 (weekends inclusive).”

Cyclist and pedestrian crossings will be accommodated where possible.

Last month the local authority announced that due to prevailing ground conditions, the road closure on the R194 at Dunancory Bridge was to be extended.

The latest announcement states that the road closure will now be in effect on the R194 at Dunancory Bridge until 5pm on Saturday, November 14 (weekends inclusive).

Diversions will be (Westbound) via the N3 at Virginia town, via the R196 at New Inn, and via the R196 to the junction with the R194 in Ballyjamesduff town, with the same route applying in reverse for eastbound traffic.

A parking restriction will be in place on the R196 for the duration of the works.

Cavan County Council apologises for any inconvenience that this may cause and wishes to thank people for their patience in the delivery of this essential project. Any queries in relation to this can be emailed to roads@cavancoco.ie
