Water at Cavan Regional Water Supply Scheme impacted due to Storm Bella

Customers supplied from the Cavan Regional Water Supply Scheme have had their water supply impacted as a result of a power outage at the plant due to Storm Bella.

Irish Water and Cavan County Council advise repairs are ongoing and will continue for the rest of today.

A spokesperson for the company said: "Irish Water understands the inconvenience when an outage occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we work to restore power and restore normal supply to impacted customers.

"Irish Water is encouraging customers to conserve water while these works are underway. There are ways to conserve water that will not impact on hygiene or handwashing. Simple water conservation efforts can have a big impact on reducing demand on the supply such as not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible.

"Irish Water continues to work at this time with our Local Authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of both staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of critical drinking water and wastewater services."

Irish Water's customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1850 278 278 and customers can also contact them on Twitter @IWCare with any queries. For updates see the water supply and services section of their website.
