Drivers arrested after testing positive for drugs

Two more alleged drug drivers were arrested this week by Cavan Roads Policing Unit.

On Tuesday night a van was observed driving at excessive speed in Cavan Town. A check by gardaí on their mobility app indicated no tax.

The van failed to stop and after, according to gardaí "driving dangerously" the driver attempted to flee on foot. Another mobility check showed the driver was disqualified.

On arrest oral fluid tests at Cavan Garda Station showed positive for opiates and benzodiazepines.

Another unaccompanied learner driver was stopped in the Kingscourt area and the roadside oral fluid test detected cocaine, cannabis and opiates. Both drivers now face court appearances.
