Unsettled weather for the week ahead

Met Éireann forecast a dry and bright day for most today with isolated showers and spells of sunshine. Highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees in a light westerly or variable breeze.

Tonight will be dry with clear spells at first, though it will turn cloudier overnight with drizzle developing near Donegal coasts by morning. Some mist and fog patches will develop also in light southerly winds. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 5 degrees.

Cloudy tomorrow with isolated patches of light rain and drizzle spreading from the west. Highest temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds, fresh at times near coasts.

Overview: Unsettled through the coming week with frequent rainfall, most persistent across the west and north. Temperatures will increase to slightly above normal.

Monday night: Cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle spreading from the west early in the night. A milder night with lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds.

Tuesday: A dull and damp day with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. The best of any dry spells will be in the east and southeast. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in moderate south to southwest winds.

More persistent rain will spread from the west early on Tuesday night, becoming patchier by morning. Feeling mild with lowest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in moderate southerly winds.

Wednesday: A cloudy start to October with rain and drizzle, most persistent in the west and southwest. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds.

Thursday: Wet and breezy with continued rain, turning heavy at times across the southwest, west and north. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds.
