Is your primary school passionate about the planet?
Expressions of interest are invited from primary schools across counties Cavan and Monaghan in Planet Passionate Play Pilot, a joint initiative between Carrickmacross Toy Library and Kingspan. The pilot is proving so popular, there is a already waiting list for next year.
Carrickmacross Toy Library deliver interactive workshops to primary school children, in which they learn how toys are made, how long they are used, and how community toy lending can reduce the need for short-lifecycle plastic toys.
This reflects Carrickmacross Toy Library’s ongoing work to reduce plastic waste through its toy lending service, supporting families to access quality toys while lowering consumption and landfill waste.
The partnership aligns with Kingspan’s Planet Passionate goals, particularly in relation to circularity and waste reduction.
The company funds the outreach project through its Planet Passionate Communities Fund.
Speaking about the initiative, CEO of Carrickmacross Toy Library, Jill Kennon said: “This project allows us to connect sustainability, circular thinking and play in a way that is meaningful for young children. With Kingspan’s support through Planet Passionate, we can help schools and families see how small changes – like sharing toys and protecting time for play – can have a lasting impact.”
Head of Sustainability at Kingspan Group, Holly Loughman added: “Through our Planet Passionate Communities Fund, we are proud to support initiatives that deliver meaningful local impact. Carrickmacross Toy Library is helping children experience the concept of circularity in a hands-on, engaging way, and we are delighted to play a part in such a unique and inspiring project.”
