Sunshine and showers for most of the day
Weather update from Met Éireann
Low pressure dominates with rain and showers at first and rather breezy at times. Becoming more settled through the weekend. That's the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.
This morning, rain will clear eastwards. Sunshine and showers will follow for the rest of today. Some of the showers will be heavy or prolonged with a chance of thunder, hail and spot flooding, especially over the western half of the country. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with moderate to fresh south to southwest winds, strong near south and west coasts.
Tonight, showers will continue, some heavy and merging to longer spells at times especially in the west and north. Showers will gradually ease overnight and become more isolated by morning. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in moderate to fresh and gusty southwest winds.
Thursday will start off with sunny spells and well scattered showers. Cloud will build from the southwest. Rain and drizzle will spread northeastwards through the late afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees, in light to moderate southwesterly winds.
Mostly cloudy overnight on Thursday with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, south to southeast winds.
Cloud and rain will clear eastwards early on Friday with sunny spells and scattered showers following. Some of the showers will be heavy and thundery, possibly merging to longer spells of rain at times through the day. Breezy too with fresh and gusty southwest winds developing, and highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees.
Scattered showers will become confined to the northwest with clear spells and a largely dry night elsewhere on Friday. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees in light to moderate southwest to west breezes.
Saturday will bring spells of sunshine and well scattered showers, becoming more isolated later in the day. Highest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees in light to moderate west to northwest breezes.
Mostly dry on Sunday with variable amounts of cloud and sunshine and the odd light shower. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in mostly light southeasterly or variable breezes.
Current indications show mostly settled conditions continuing for early next week with spells of sunshine and possibly an increase in temperatures.
