A Cavan company recently took part in an Irish Farmers Market held as part of Bank of Ireland's Show Your Business week - Christmas special (December 7-11 in branches across the country). Crepes in the City was founded by Tine Cropp and Oisin Healy in 2004, to produce and sell gourmet sweet and savoury crepes in Temple Bar food market in Dublin.
The business set up its stand in the forecourt of the bank's flagship branch in College Green in Dublin and its headquarters on Lower Baggot Street during the week-long event.
Operating from their base in Belturbet, Tine and Oisin have significant experience in the food industry, and both come from food backgrounds. Oisin's father Denis is an organic vegetable grower from Talbotstown, Co. Wicklow and Tine's mother Silke Cropp makes the award winning Corleggy farmhouse cheese in Belturbet.
Their ethos is to use the best organic, handmade or wild ingredients in their crepes. They started with a small stall in Temple Bar food market in Meeting House Square and now have a number of stalls in food markets in the Dublin area including in the People's Park in Dun Laoghaire and Farmleigh in the Phoenix Park.
They also cater at music festivals such as Electric Picnic and more recently have expanded to cater for private functions using a French cart fitted with crepe machines. See crepes.ie or call Tine on 086-8047889.
Show Your Business week offered small and medium sized enterprises a platform to display the diversity, innovation and entrepreneurship of Irish businesses.
It also provided a platform at which they could network with other businesses and discuss challenges in the current economic climate.
The event was arranged following positive feedback from SMEs that exhibited at the bank's National Enterprise Week in May and the Show Your Business week in October; some 2,000 businesses participated.
