The late Patrick Reilly.

It is with regret that we note the death of Patrick Reilly, Pineview, Lisdarn, Cavan, who passed away on February 5 last suddenly at the Mater Hospital, Dublin. Born in May 1944, 'big Paddy' as he was affectionately known was the youngest son of Paddy and Josephine Reilly, brother of Angela, John-Joe and Josephine. He was educated at the Farnham NS and St. Patrick's College, Cavan.

Patrick worked in Woolworths, Main Street and in Mike's Garage, Farnham Street, Cavan where he acquired his love of trading and sold many people their first car. He then moved to Drogheda where he opened his own garage and met his wife Marie.

They returned home to Cavan where they lived happily for the last 36 years. Patrick worked with J.P. Gibney, Oldcastle for a number of years before taking employment with John Nulty.

In his youth, he played football with Cavan Gaels and later became affiliated to Ballinagh GFC. He was also a keen golfer and a member of Cavan Golf Club from a very early age where he won many tournaments.

Paddy and Marie loved a game of cards, in particular progressive 25, which they played in several different venues where they made many friends. Paddy was a member of Fianna Fáil Kilmore/Drumcor Cumann and at the time of his death was chairman.

Paddy was a devoted family man and is survived by his wife Marie; daughter Deborah; sons Leo, Martin, Darren, Gregory, sister Josephine; son-in-law Ciaran; daughter-in-law Edel, Suzy, Michelle and his eight grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He will be sadly missed by them and all his friends.
